Ethics Series — A Pandemic of Ethical Issues: Public Health and Vaccinations
Join us for discussion about the balance between the public good and individual rights.
The Covid Pandemic has not only brought public health issues to the fore, it has also highlighted the enduring jurisprudence issue of individual versus collective rights. The ethics of vaccination has become a flashpoint with many citizens arguing that the decision to be vaccinated is a personal one and this right should not be infringed. An even larger majority believes that the collective public health of our society is threatened if too many citizens refuse to be vaccinated to prevent viruses from spreading.
Panellists:
- Lois Wilson — Former President of the World Council of Churches
- Christine Van Geyn — Litigation Director of the Constitution Foundation of Canada
- Tom Axworthy — Massey Senior Fellow and Public Policy Program Chair
- Rev. Don Gibson — United Church Minister and Co-Chair of the Massey Ethics Series (moderator)
